general physiotherapy question, pain and painkillers
(2 discussions)
Hello,
six weeks I had a fracture ( lateral malleolus) non displaced, leg in cast for six weeks, now cast removed and told by specialist, to now go and walk. no mention about physio…. so I am doing it myself, but I get some pain and I know its early days. I wondered if its wise to take painkillers at this early stage to walk better? incidentally, everyone tells me how well i’m doing at this early stage.?
thankyou

It is not unusual to have pain getting out of a cast. It can be helpful, but not always mandatory to have physical therapy. Many times I have a patient walk to tolerance and ride a stationary bicycle.
