Heel Pain and Numbness

(2 discussions)

I have sharp stinging heel pain in the rear-lateral side of the heel when the achilles tendon is stretched slightly.
There is also numbness in that area (from the rear-center of the heel to about two inches along the lateral side heel).
There seems to be a small hard non-moving (bony mass perhaps) bump on the rear-lateral side of the heel.
The pain increases as the achilles tendon is stretched, but the numbness never goes away.
Is there any remedy for this ?
Thanks.

I would first recommend you see a podiatrist for an evaluation. An x-ray would be the first step. Depending on what this shows, an MRI might be indicated as well.

Thanks, I should probably be happy the problem isn’t on the bottom of the heel, since I’m able to limit stretching of the achilles tendon which causes the pain and increases numbness, and it has not limited mobility very much so far.
