Patella-femoral syndrome & exercise

(2 discussions)

Hi, I’ve been diagnosed with patella-femoral syndrome, and was (correctly) advised that running and biking would just aggravate my pain symptoms. I work out regularly, but all of my regular cardiovascular exercises seem to just aggravate it: jogging, biking, kickboxing and similar activities, and especially the stairmaster and such at the gym. I don’t really have access to a pool, but do I need to go find one now? Are there other cardio activities out there that won’t aggravate my knee so much? Thanks, Lee

Well cancel swimming, it hurts my knees just as much as anything. My doctor told me to run and the next day I could barely walk. Would the cross trainer help? You don’t have any impact with that and you keep your feet in one place the whole time. I have yet to try it but it seems like the only viable option
