Trap spasms

(5 discussions)

I have dislocated my shoulder on a few occasions. I am seeing my chiro for treatment for this but one thing she just can`t figure out is to get my trap to release.
She has done stretches, trigenics, accupuncture and massage but nothing is really working. Any other suggestions?

MRI cervical spine, check for disc bulge. If chiropractic is not working you could get some trigger point injections. Unfortunately its just a band aid fix but will give you some relief. Your doctor could try some ultrasound or interferential current. Cold laser works well as does a technique called ART.

I have been diognosed with arthritis of the lumbar spine with small osteophytes and narrowing of the articular facets at L4 to S1. Mild straightening and minimal levoscoliosis of the lumbar spine consistant with muscle spasms. These symptoms leave me with lower back pain constantly and pains in my thighs as well if I stay on my feet too long. I can’t even do my household chores, so how will I go back to my job wich is very physical and I must be able to stand from 5 to 7 hours a night 5 days a week? I am due to have an MRI in a couple of days. I’m being told that there is no reason that I can’t go back to work, but I am in substantial pain. The pain specialist that I am seeing has 1 option a epidural shot. I want to exaust all of my options before I consider that. Please give me your advice. I am a 50 year old mother of 3.

Epidural shot will offer you temporary relief but the pain will return when the shot wears off. It’s essentially a band-aid fix. Why haven’t you sought the services of a chiropractor?
