pulled in football practice yesterday. My experience has taught me to ice shortly after injury, and then alternate heat & ice every 30 minutes. Is this acceptable practice and are there any recommendations.

I like to ice for any pain. Usually if there is pain, there is some swelling too. Use ice till pain free..may take a couple of weeks, then you can use heat and then do light stretching. I hope your keeping your little guy from football practice for a while to let him heal???
