    Hi,

I have been told to take collagen. I can only find it in a liquid form and it tastes foul!!! But it’s for all connective tissue, inc. Skin, teeth, tendons, ligaments!!

Glucosamine I think is more for cartilage, hence why it’s recomended for osteoarthritis.

Don’t know if it’s working yet. My problem is very chronic though, so I might not be a good judge!!

I took the supplement in powder form about two years ago for about two months. Taking 2-3 teaspoons a day I noticed that I was getting stomach cramps and had to pull back on the dosage. Apparently some people are affected this way, others not. I did notice that my wrist injury healed during that time but whether that was the acupuncture or tissue salts I was taking, I’m not sure. I’ve also heard that the body doesn’t really absorb supplements unless it is alredy deficient, so topping up on Chond/ Glucosamine may prove unremarkable?? These days I take a teaspoon occasionally with a smoothy. As far as any noticeable results, there haven’t been any. Perhaps I’ll find out in ten years time!! Good Luck!

I’ve been using Glucosamine & Chondroitin for about 4 years. I think it’s helped me. I have bad osteoarthritis.

I have just started taking them so i don’t know how useful they are. but a lot of people seem to recommend it.

some things i have learnt are:
    1) Glucasamine sulphate is the most important ingredient. usefulness of Chondroitin and MSM is questionable.

    2) Liquid form is better than tablets as it gets absorbed faster. it is of course more expensive. suggested dosage is 2/3 tspns per day.

To those who are taking the medication:

Can you tell me the potential side effects apart from gastric irritation?
Also how does it actually help , what is its mechanism of action ?

According to Consumer Reports, there is a wide variation among mfgs of Glucosamine, so its as important to get an accurate dosage as to get the right one. CR lists three brands that give accurate dosage but the only one i could find here in NYC is Vitamin Shoppe.

Ive been taking 1500 glucosamine and 1200 chondrotin daily and am convinced it cured my itb pain. I’m a runner. My sister is a dancer and claims that glucosamine chondrotin cured her debilitating knee pain (misdiagonsed as chrondomalacia patella).
