Knee injury(dislocation and subluxation)

(3 discussions)

Okay, I used to wrestle in high school and my knee would some times subluxate, but it wasn’t serious, it would just be sore for the rest of the day. Nowadays i train in ultimate fighting. One day while training, my knee felt like it subluxated, but it it actually dislocated. Not a total dislocation i guess, if you look at it you can’t tell anything is popped out. Now it pops out all the time, and I have to pop it back in myself. It only pops out when my leg is bent, and to get it back in, I have to slowly straighten my leg. I’ve lost ROM in my quad, like I can’t bend my leg so my heel is touching my butt. If i try it pops out. It also pops out when i move my leg to the left, like if I’m sitting down with my legs crossed, and i pull my lower leg up(like i was trying to smell my foot) it pops out then. I have no health insurance and no job right now, so I wonder if anyone has any idea what exactly this injury is.

I just wanted to make sure I understood what was occuring since treatment options are completely different for a knee cap dislocation versus a knee dislocation.

This is a serious problem which needs to be addressed by an orthopedic surgeon. However, I understand that you don’t have health insurance. I would check with some of the OSs in your area and see if they offer free injury clinics. They do this in my area. Anyone can come, and they only have to pay for the x-rays if they required.

Get this checked out ASAP, because the more you training on your injured knee the more damage you are doing. This will complicate any surgical procedures that will be necessary and could extend the recovery time.

No it’s not my kneecap. I guess it’s my tibia popping out of joint. Like I said, if you look at it when it’s popped out, you can’t tell anything is wrong at all. It’s not a total dislocation i guess, in that you can clearly see the bone out of it’s joint.

Is your kneecap or your entire knee doing the suluxating/dislocating
