Longstanding Back and Spine Problems -Help!

I was involved in 2 MVAs 3 days apart about 15 years ago and have had worsening pain since.
I went to PT which hurt more than helped and was discharged.
I went to a chiropractor several years ago and never felt better, but the pain is two-fold now as it has been several years.
He did x-rays and noted the injury to my cervical spine and curvature or bulge as well as degeneration to a moderate degree in my cervical and thoracic spines with curvature and mild degeneration in my lumbar spine.
He treated me with adjustments, some kind of electrical stimulation with moist heat, a water massage machine, and some kind of table with a roller going up and down my spine about 8 years ago.
My pain now is almost unbearable now with sharp shooting pains in my neck and back, behind my shoulder blade, sometimes into my shoulder from my neck, burning, aching, throbbing pains in my neck and thoracic areas of my back with occasional associated muscle spasms.
I don’t know what the answer is for me to do at this point after a round of therapy immediately after the MVAs and several visits to a chiropractor in N. TX.
I was also curious as to what kind of test my chiropractor was performing when he asked me to lie on the examining table and asked me to stick out my tongue while he pushed down my arm.
He could push my arm down with ease, but after adjusting me, we repeated this technique, and he could not push down my arm.
What was he testing? Thanks for any answers and additional thoughts about this severe pain and what else could be going on after all this time.

Should I be bruising?

(2 discussions)

My sister has been seeing a chiropractor for around 3 weeks, 2-3 times a week, schedule permitting. She said that this last visit wasn’t painful until after the fact. She has some dark bruising around her spine. I am aware that she may be sore after the visit but I wondered if bruising was normal?

disc hernia

(2 discussions)

I am desperate to find what is wrong with my back. I have visited several doctors and they have looked on my X rays . Some said I have a start of disc hernia ( on l3 – l4 ) and some say nothing . it is now nearly a year since the pain started after pulling my suitcase on a holiday and although I don’t suffer great pain, it is annoying that no one can say what is wrong, when I move my left leg up, I constantly have a crack sound on my left back and then it feels better. Can I go to the gym and pull weights or play football? I really need to know whom I should see to get a prober result. Thank you

Tight hip / leg curve in spine

I recently found out I have one hip slightly higher than the other and have a mild curve in my spine. I do chiropractic treatments a couple times a week and it isnt changing anything. ( I’ve been to them so much I can even tell them what is off before they start )I have had a problem for years and have seen over a dozen chiropractors with all the same general take on it…keep doing adjustments. They don’t seem to want to address much for the muscle issues. I do believe there are some tight muscles in the hips (psoas quads and glutes- which I have been stretching.) There is a magic muscle trigger point some where but I can’t find it. I have used an inversion table, which I did get dramatic results with (85-90 % improvement in the whole body )until my body said no thats enough. I can feel the right hip is tight and is twisted. Right si joint, piriformis muscle… I know when it all balances out from the hips everything else does too. Any suggestions?

Siatic Nerve Pain

I have pain in both of my legs from the knee down. Most of the pain is in the calf. I have no pain from my buttocks down my leg. And also tingling in both legs. One Dr. said it was Siatica but I have had it before and it isn’t the same this time. I have had this for over a year now and it is getting worse. Also I went to a Vascular Dr. and he did a dopler on both legs and said that wasn’t my problem. Please tell me what I should do.
Thanks,Sandra Schaefer

Broken ribs & Laceration

I have 2 broken ribs and a laceration on my lower back from a fall. How long does it take for broken ribs to heal. 1)I would like to know if you need to have follow-up xrays? 2) Before my injury, I worked out and swam a lot at the YMCA. When is it ok to swim? Is it OK to go into steam room or sauna? Is it ok to get into the whirlpool? 3)Is there anything, as fasr as gardening or bending that I shouldn’t do? 4) How long should I be on Oxecodone & hoe much should I be taking after 3 weeks? Thank you very much! Beth
