Crepitus? in ankle

Hi, I have been d’x-ed with postbial tendonitis — early stage of just tendonitis and no tearing according to foot and ankle ortho. My less affected ankle makes this awful noise when I climb steps — just plain ordinary ones.
It is a crunchy, scraping (maybe) noise. I do have intermitent pain, but I also have fibromyalgia and pain is not a new feeling.

I am 47 years old. I have tried to get the PTT healed — I just keep swelling and not getting better. Now, I just hate to have to go up stairs because the noise sounds so bad to me.

Any help would be appreciated.
