Knee injury

I was playing rugby the other day, when i was tackled from the outside of my knee. I heard a pop, and was in alot of pain. I have dislocated my knee twice before, although it didnt dislocate today it felt very similar. Any ideas on what i might have done?

The pain was medial side. I was unable to walk for around a day, and four days after am still not able to walk without a limp. My leg feels unstable, and like it wants to give way. There was swelling, but this only lasted a day. Thank god it didnt dislocate this time round. I am just wondering if the only problem for my knee to keep doing this is just a problem with my medial ligament?..Or if i have damaged cartialge as i have injured it three times now?..
Any ideas anyone?

where was the pain medially or laterally?
can you walk? is there swelling ? or discoloration?
