mcl tear – grade 3
(3 discussions)
Howdy,About 7 weeks ago I tore my mcl while fending off a 500lb. red deer stag (deer farmer). I’ve had a brace on for 7 weeks …first 4 weeks stationary at 30 deg and the last 3 weeks increasing movement gradually. The brace is off now and I would like info on a good physical therapy routine. I do not have insurance at this time or I would have gone to a PT. Any info…website…book….personal routine would be greatly appeciated. Thanks, Geoff

Just type in "rehabilitation mcl injuries" into a search engine and you can find lots of good (medical) sites and protocals. Good luck.

Yes, you can improve your knee stabilizers by increasing the strength of your hamstrings (seated eccentric leg presses and regular squats), and by building up the inside quadricep muscle (the VMO). I think the various rehab sites will show you how to do these two things.

Thanks that’s just what I’m looking for. BTW is it possible to tighten the mcl through PT or specific exercise after the “mending” has taken place ?
