Is this Fasciitis?

(2 discussions)

My symptoms: Pain in arch near heel when standing for more than 10 minutesPain in tendon that connects to the first metatarsal head when walking for more than 10 minutes (right foot)No morning pain, but a little discomfort when stepping out of bedWhen I press on fascia when my feet hurt, it hurtsI have been to a podiatrst, she fitted me with orthodics which help some, but still have problems. She says I have fasciitis and sesamottis (spelling?).
Icing helps a lot, but doesn’t that just cover up the symptom? Plus after 30minutes of icing, pain returns.
What is this? This has been going on for a year! btw, My podiatrist says I can still exercise which I do, however I don’t go as hard as I use to.

Torn Medial Maniscus

(2 discussions)

Today, the VA did an MRI on my knee.
They informed me I have a torn Medial Maniscus.
I’ve aparently had this injury since l976, and they’ve just now told me what it is. Now, should I allow them to operate, cause I realy look for that to be their next sugestion. I have learned to live with this all these years, and I’m realy leary to have surgery.
I have adverse reactions to “most” medications, and I don’t know if I should even let them treat me for this at all. After so long, should I have something done with it or should I just continue to live with it??

possible solutions?

(2 discussions)

This is an ice hockey related injury. It happened over time to someone I know because he may tie his skates too tight. He explained that on the anterior side right above the foot he’s had tendonitis. He says it feels grainy and squeeky.. I didn’t understand that comment but I never felt tendonitis before. He tried to put padding between the skate and the laces and thicker socks but it still hurt a lot. He can move his foot around but any pressure on that spot causes pain. I am not an ATC im just taking a sports med class however i’d like to help him. How do you treat this injury? is it just like any other tendonitis? he mentioned he’s felt this years ago as well so it may be a reoccuring injury. How would you approach this problem if an athlete brought it up?

Top Of Foot Pain

Every once in a while I experience pain on the top of my right foot towards my ankle. It started hurting the otherday after I was shoveling in my yard and jumping on the shovel to push it into the ground. I hurt my foot when I was 2 jumping off a swing (I am 15 now) and my parents never took me to a doctor they thought I might have fractured it but never did anything about it. What could be causing this pain? Should I get X-Rays to see if it never healed properly or what should I do?

formerly broken ankle

I sustained a broken ankle in a very bad car accident in 2014. I had a pin for about a year.
It did not return to its former flexibility and remained slightly larger than it was. My ankle has not given me any problems until now.
I am living in the mountains of North Carolina in a rustic setting.
The terrain is rough…hilly, gravel roads, tree roots on foot paths to maneuver, etc. I work with children…we climb hills go on walks and so on. I am having sever pain in my ankles often, causing me to limp at times.
Should I see my surgeon/doctor or will he just reccomend heat, massage, etc.?

Dislocations of shoulder

I am currently 43, when I was 17 I dislocated left shoulder in a bike wreck.
The ball part of the shoulder joint was clearly visible on my back.
I was put under during the repair job. No surgery no PT as I remember when I woke up I was fine other than some limited movement.
I did not stay immobilized at all simply went on with life with little problem. For the most part regained all use of the shoulder other than as I got older it would ache at night.4 days ago while water skiing I dislocated the same shoulder, it was extremely painful ends up the ball part of the joint was down and under my arm pit. Almost 3 hours passed before they put me under and repositioned the joint.
The doc sent me home in a sling but it is very painful to leave the arm in a same position for long periods.
I am almost pain free if I leave the arm out of the sling letting it hang while walking and propping it up while driving or working at the deck. Once propped up on the deck I can type 2 handed as well as ever.Am I screwing up moving my around? At night after about 3 hours of sleep I wake in pain and have to get up and move my shoulder around a while, the pain subsides and I can get another 2 to 3 hours before repeating the procedure.
