plantar faciitis???

been on a weightloss/exercise program for 2 months. Run 4 miles per day on a treadmill.
Severe pain in left heel.
Sometimes have to skip a day of jogging or cut it down to brisk walking only 2 – 3 miles.
Pain stays all day when I am on my feel. Actually hobble especially when getting up after being seated (long or short spans). Heel is very sore. Could this be planta faciitis, or is my weight (150 lbs on 5 ft frame) just too much for foot to handle?
Why only the left heel? Will it improve as weight continues to drop?

just sensitive?

(2 discussions)

Had pain along 5th metatarsal for 9 months now, bone and MRI showed nothing along with x rays. Getting really frustrated cos physio basically said it was me being oversensitive but i’ve broken things before and not had probs. Should I persist or just get used to pain and ‘live my life’ as she suggested?
Thanks and by the way I think you do a fantastic job considering you can’t see our feet!

Do toenails grow back?

I had to have my toenail surgically removed yesterday after seriously injuring it in a run-in with the door.
Will my toenail grow back?
What are the chances that a toenail won’t grow back?
Is there anything I can do to increase my chances of healthy regrowth?

echinacea stoppage time factor before surgery

(3 discussions)

I have upcoming bunion surgery-so as I’m sure you know, it will be IV sedation, certainly not general anesthesia. Well, stupid me, with slightly two weeks before the surgery, I took echinacea, as I sometimes do when I worry about catching a cold. Then it dawned on me, DUH! Don’t take herbal supplements before surgery-so I have stopped ( was only a few days on and off anyway) and it will be just about 2 weeks off before my surgery. But still, I have to wonder if they’ll want to postpone me by a week (have my preadmission appointment this week upcoming)Did some reading, and saw some of the advisories about stopping echinacea, but just want to ask around about risk factors (since I’m a worry wart and also kicking myself for not thinking)okay, I know this is an anesthesia question but just thought someone might have feedback/input. ultimately yes, my surgery center will decide. Thanks.
