Hi Dr Bunting.
I have been seeing a new chiropractor for about 6 weeks now.
I have been a patient in another province for a few years, but haven’t been again in about 2 years or so.
So, I started new with this chiro, who practises the activator method.
I have been seeing him for about 2-3 times per week, and am now expecting the adjustments to taper off.
When I had my assessment done, he suggested curve correction to take place in the near future, and that near future is now.
I am asking this question because I am a skeptic, and am unsure of his intentions.
He seems like a really trustworthy guy, but he wants to see me twice per week for the next 3 months, and once per week for the remainder of a year, which is 40 weeks. He also wants me to come back in for x-rays, and a re-evaluation, at an additional cost. This works out to a whopping $3086 over the course of a year.
He also wants me to purchase a posture pump, if that is the correct term, to aid in fixing the curve in my neck. ($190) Oh and also in the future, orthotics- $400. The skeptic in me says, WHOA that’s a lot of adjustments and A LOT of money.
What do you think?
Is it all really necessary? The curve in my neck is slightly straightened out, and I am a headache sufferer. But aren’t LOTS of peoples neck curve straightened out a bit?

Neuroma Surgery Problems?

On February 4th this year I had surgery on my right foot.
My problem was diagnosed as Morton’s Neuroma.
The doctor could not determine exactly where the problem existed and I was no help.
The pain was in the central area and the burning was so bad I could not tell if it was coming from the right of my middle toe or to the left.
The doctor and I both agreed that as long as we were doing the surgery, he would make an incision in both areas and remove anything looking suspicious.
He removed what he called some tissue on the right side of the middle and the neuroma was removed from the left side.
Since the surgery I have had swelling and pain.
The middle toe is now pointing to the left and it is under the second toe which is also pointing towards the big toe.
Is it normal to have this swelling four months after surgery?
What can possibly be causing the middle and the second toe to angle towards the big toe?
Will the toes go back in place once the swelling goes down?
How do I get rid of the swelling and pain?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

sprained ankle-long story

(sorry this is so long but I didn’t know how to shorten the story)Hi i’m 12 and during gym at school I was playing a game where you have to try to tag your partner. Well I was runing up to my partner and she was also running and I tagged her and she stopped while I kept on going. I then tripped over her foot with my left leg on the ground and I tryed to catch my self with my right foot. but instead of stepping flat I stepped on the outside of my foot and my ankle sort of rolled over my foot and hit the floor. I had to be rolled on an office chair to the nurse. and it turned out I had a sprained ankle. my parents wouldn’t take me to the doctor because they thought it was too much money. and they thought it didn’t look that bad. a day after I sprained it my dad was making me walk on it even though it hurt so bad and after a week he made me go to dance with it too. most of the pain eventually went away ecsept when i’d point and flex it and I can’t sit on my feet. now it’s a little over a month after and I have a really sharp pain in my ankle and the muscle on the back of my heel is really tight. And also where my ankle is usually really boney it looks as if it’s swollen and I guess you could say it feels kind of tender. i’m not sure what I should do and my parents still won’t take me to the doctor. I take advil to lower the pain but it won’t go away. please reply ASAP i’m scared it’s going to get worse. thanks. Devin

bulged disc

Three month ago I have been diagnosed with herniated disc. it states: L4-5 is right sided disc which compresses the right L4 root in the intervertbral foramen. The far lateral root is not affected but it is distorted posteriorly. I was given epidural cortison injections three times. The last I got Dec.18.2013. My questions : what is the most probable outcome after six weeks after my last epidural treatment? What I can do to help my self to get better. I still have sometimes pain in my buttock with like knife shooting pain down in my leg. I go three times a weeek for hydrotherapy, I walk as much as posssible. What else can I do without to cause anymore damage to my back. Please advice.
thank you Mila

To MYA PT

Greetings, I am looking for information on bracing for lateral tracking patella and chondromalacia.
I am a runner who suffers from patella problems that have not been cured through PT (I’ve spent months in PT but no longer have a script to continue).
I’ve had a couple of surgeries and am having trouble getting back to running. Anyway I can’t find any research or reviews on all the braces that seem to be out there. Bio Skin Q-brace, J-Lat and Palumbo to name a few. Do you know where I can go to find this information so I can choose wisely?
