Pectoral damage

I lifted a bag of 80 Lb. quickcrete and now my chest feels like there is a car laying on top of it. I went to the emergency room an a x-ray was done. Nothing was found. I was told my heart was okay. The pain is still there. Could my pectoral be damaged and if so should it heal in time? Would a MRI be necessary or other tests? Thank you for any help.Still in pain after 1 week

stiff fingers after broken wrist

(2 discussions)

I broke my wrist on 7-10-03. After getting the cast off, and having gone through 20 visits of physicial therpy, I have ended up having my fingers getting stiff. It gets worse at night, or when I just sit and don’t keep exercising my fingers. Is there anymore I can do for this? Will they ever get back to normal, and if so, how long to you think this will take.

Foot Pain

I am a gout patient. My family has diabetic. I have flat feet. Since I worked at a pizza shop kitchen two months ago, I felt foot pain everyday. It comes stronger and stronger. First, I thought that it was gout. After 2 week, I think it might be something else, since it lasted more than 2 weeks. Gout does not last so long. Second, I thought that it was flat feet. I bought an arch support insole. It still does not work. Usually, the arch support should reduce the pain. Last Friday, my foot was so painful that I could not stand up could not walk at all. I went to hospital and did examination. Doctors took X-Ray and blood test and said your bone is not broken and blood test result is normal. Your foot is neighter gout nor diabetic. I do not have any idea which will cause the foot so painful. I really appreciate you could give me some suggestions or directions to figure what happens to my foot.
Thanks again.

hyperextended elbow

(4 discussions)

my dad I think has hyperextended his elbow at work. It has been hurting him for a month, he can move his arm, but at some points it hurts him. It has gotten to the point he can’t lift anything. The pain is on his bone, and goes up all the way to his upper arm, he says that it is not in a muscle. He lost a lot of arm strength, its not swollen or red, and we thought it might be jammed so we tryed pulling on it to see if it would pop but it didn’t. He refuses to see a doctor, we need help because, he can’t not use it because he goes to work everyday and uses it, is there any way u can give us more information, or any help with it, like home excersizes, or do you have any answers that would be great, we just really need some help. We just got a sling for him but he can only use it when he comes home because he can’t use it at work. do u think if he stayes off of it for a few days it might get better? well if you could please email us back, thank you!!!

Knee and Leg pain

I had surgery on both knees a few years ago and now I’m still having problems with both of them.
They swell and become very painful.
It’s getting to the point that I can’t stand or walk for more than an hour without pain and swelling.
I also sometimes get sharp pain from my hip all the way down to my feet on both legs.
It feels like it’s in the bone, but I can’t tell.
All I know is it really hurts and I can’t stand it anymore.
My Orthopedic doctor did x-rays and they came back normal and that’s all he has done.
He gave me knee braces and sent me home.
The knee braces make the pain and swelling worse so I usually only wear them for a few hours if at all.
I just need to know if anyone has any idea what this pain and swelling could be from and what I should do next other than see another doctor which I am in the process of doing?
Any suggestions are greatly appriecated.
Thank you.

Widespread ankle pain

(2 discussions)

Regular runner. Suddenly after walking at the Zoo in late AugustI develop tendonitis like symptoms in achilles area but higher up near calf muscle. Ortho tells me it’s ok to try to work through on eliptical with some moderate stretching. The eliptical and stretching actually make it worse and start to cause pain in the front and sides of my ankle so I rest with occasional walk. Still no improvement. One day I go for a casual walk lasting about 30 minutes. Next day extreme pain throughout entire ankle including front and sides, calf is cramping, muscles in front and back are sore to the touch but still no pain exactly at the base of the achilles tendonitis. Some numbness. EMG done, MRI of lumbar sping done, Neurologist says nothing wrong. Follow up with Ortho tells me that he does know what the problem is b/c I’m not presenting with classic achilles pain only. He can’t explain pain in front and sides or the pain near the calf. Aren’t there tendons all through the lower leg? Primary physician has convinced himself that I have fibromylagia. Keeps asking if i’m depressed (duh, my ankles hurt of course it’s depressing). Primary tried six day course of oral steroids, no change. Ortho referred me to physiatrist. Is it possible to develop such widespread tendonitis in the ankle? Shouldn’t the problem dissipate with rest? Any ideas?
