rotorcuff

(4 discussions)

I have a great deal of pain in both rotor cuffs. Wakes me up several times a night. Very strong pain, when I try to move to get off that side of the shoulder it takes time as it is extremely painfull. I will fall asleep again and wake up an hour or two later with the same problem, and have to switch again. What is doing this? They are painfull during the day also with any use of my arms with picking up anything with much weight to it. Any ideas anyone? Thank you, Mary

Mary I had shoulder pain in excess of 4 months, similar to yours. Shoulder ortho specialist said it was adhesive capsulitis or frozen shoulder. P.T. did not help so he manipulated it under surgery. Then an unsuccessful and painful return to P.T. for 7 weeks brought me back to the doctor. An MRI indicated a partial tear of the rotor cuff. Another cortisone injection (had 2 previously with no real benefit) has done little to relieve the pain. My sleep patterns sound like yours too. Rather than surgery, I want to try a conservative treatment for a bit longer as everything I read says the recovery period is a difficult one. Any resolution to your problem? If so, I would be interested in hearing about it. CAROL

I have the same problem. I wake up from the pain and have to use my other arm to being it down. It goes up if I use it to much and seems like it always hurts any more. I’m suppose to go to specialist and I’m afraid of what they will tell me. I don’t really want surgery on it. I’ve had corisone shots and thepary for it also.
