Shin splints?

After a recent bout of tendonitis in my achilles and tendons on the outside of my feet, my physio has informed me that I am flat footed and suggested to go see a podiatrist for arch support. He also talked about the possibility of using wedges under my heel?

Due to the cost of what I need doing, I am waiting for next pay day before seeing the specialist, but I have matches this weekend which I would prefer to do.

The situation at the moment is that I have pain all the way up my shins, the area is tender and slightly swollen. I can walk on them, but running is difficult. I have rested up for 3 days, worn some support bandaging and ice.
The pain has dulled, but I am unsure of what it is that I have done. I couldn’t ascertain any acute incident that may have caused the injuries in both my shins. I can only presume that it is shin splints as that is common where there is a case of flat footedness?

I am seeing my physio tomorrow for proper diagnosis, but I still want to referee the football matches this weekend. I have on average two/three full 90 minute games per day (Sat, Sun and Mon).
I have support soles, support bandaging that I can wear, will this be sufficient to fend off further injury? I will be working with official linesmen and the pitches over here in Australia are softer than the UK pitches.

Advice please?

Thanks in advance,

Michelle.
