Stress Fracture Fibula
Hi – My 15 year old daughter was just diagnosed with a stress fracture of her proximal fibula within the growth area of the bone. Family doc is recommedning reduced activity before she can return to cheerleading and dance team.
Is there any other steps we can take to prevent recurrance or speed recovery?
Would weight training help?
Should I consult a sports med doc? Thanks!

Why would you weight train a fracture? Stress is what caused it in the first place. You must rest to let a fracture heal. If it would put your mind at ease to see a sports doc I say go for it. They may even recommend PT to gradually start activity and loading, but only when appropriate.
