Compartment Syndrome

(8 discussions)

I have just been diagnosed with compartment syndrome. I play soccer for a D-1 college, however I’m a goalkeeper. I am wondering if anyone can sugest any alternate forms of excesize instead of running, so I can get in shape for the fall? I am planning on having surgery in the winter after my soccer season.

Please help, any ideas would be great!! THANKS!!

CS.is often the result of congestion(lactic)Regular massage to the calves will slowly but surely break down this build up of exhaust products and help to relax those muscles. This will take away the “damning effect” on the arterial and veinous pathways.Use an essential oil such as Cypress Oil,1% solution in an almond oil.Cypress is known for its quality of clearing and rejuvinating the circulatory process.Good luck. the pain I have is on the outside of my legs/calves it is my anterior and possibly also my lateral compartments. the pain gets real strong about 5-10 minutes running, I get a tingling in top of my feet/toes. going up inclines and hills also cause discomfort. the surgery that I am going to have is where they make two small slits(one above the ankle) and the other a few inches below my knee on the outer part of my calve, then they will go in and release the compartment, or open them up. I hope this is helpful.

Hi, I was hoping you can tell me what type of surgery you are having and describe the pain you are having. I was misdiagnosed 2 times until I got the right answer. My pain is starts from the Perneal nerve under my knee cap, down the outside of my leg then towards the ankle. I stopped running/biking for 5months and then started over again and felt fine, until recenty. My training has exceeded and now it’s back in full force with additional knee pain. My Dr. said no for the surgery b/c my MRI didn’t come back like he thought. Any suggestions?

I used to play goal in the Canadian National League. You need to continue to work on your agility more then anything. For a keepr conditioning is important, but agility and flexibility are more important. Look for exercises to continue to work on these things. This shouldn’t aggravate your compartmentalization and will keep you sharp for goal. Have someone throw the ball at you side to side, along the ground, keeping you moving. If you can’t find someone use the school wall. This will keep you in shape, agile and flexible.

    Just a suggestion.

    Good Luck!
