IT band (area) injury

(3 discussions)

I have had this pain for over 5 months now. the exact location of the pain is this:

stand up-feet together. take your right foot and cross it behind the left foot. bend theknees slightly and push the right hip outward slightly for a stretch. the pain is just to the right of the hip bone. it is so intense.

any suggestions for me as to what to do?

The one exercise that I have seen help a few people I know is to lie on your side and do straight-legged leg lifts. The key is to make sure that you keep your heel back behind you as you lift your leg. It’s not about how high you lift your leg, but that you keep your hip in neutral or even a little extended. So if it’s your left leg, lie on your right side and lift your left leg up. 3 sets of 10-15 per day for a week should make a big difference.

    Good luck!

ok, so after searching this site, i have discovered my injury to be bursitis. i can now pinpoint how i got it too.

can anybody who has had this injury tell me what worked for them? I am now icing it and stretching it few times per day. I teach aerobics, so i am now laying off the high impact.

any other home remedies as i have decided to give home therapy a shot being there isn’t any noticable swelling.
