MCL Strain
Hello, I am in Iraq right now and I was out for a run and did something to my knee.
I attributed the pain to some unstable ground.
I rested for a few days and then tried running again, not a good idea. For the days to follow I was in excruciating pain.
I notice the pain if I am walking a ways I have not attempted to run since Sept. 15. Also, the pain is very noticeable when I sit for a long time, i.e. the 15 hour airplane ride. Upon returning to Iraq from leave I went and saw the doc that we have on base.
She is a runner too and diagnosed me with a MCL strain.
She is the best we can do out here in theater.
My question finally, what strengthening excercises can I do out here to repair this injury. Keep in mind, we don’t have access to a lot of the tools that are available in the U.S.
Thanks much.~Michelle

Hi Michelle. The MCL is the ligament that holds your knee together on the inside aspect. I suggest you wear some sort of knee brace that has supports on the sides of the knee to provide additional support during healing. Check out some sites for some exercise ideas Good luck and be safe!! Mya PT
