(2 discussions)

i play football, while going in for a tackle the girls knee went into the inside of my right knee. i felt my knee move but didnt think anything of it and played the rest of the game.in the morning i had a lot of pain down the right side of my knee,(shooting pain) when i bend my knee up to my chest it aches and feels heavey but not painful,i can bend my foot behind so it touches my bum and that doesnt hurt.there is no swelling, but alot of pain when i walk and i cant run.has anyone got any ideas? thank you.

It doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s damaged cartilage. I don’t know what a "corner kick" is, does that mean that you kicked the ball diagonally?
Which side of the knee cap hurts? inside outside, directly behind? Does it hurt when you walk normally or just when you squat or try to kick?

Since you play soccar, your quads are probably well developed. Something that can happen is that your latteral quad (vastus lateralis)is usally stronger then your medial quad. Causing the patella to not track along it’s intended groove, so that it rubs against bone.
But you should go get that checked out, and if there aren’t any bony fragments wandering around then look at relaxing overly developed muscles and strengthening weaker ones, so that your patella and perhaps the entire leg can rest at a more even state.
