Plica syndrome – knee pain

I am interested in anyone who has had surgery to remove plica of the knee. My daughter is scheduled for surgery to remove thickened synovial plica in her knee to alleviate her persistent knee pain. Has anyone had this surgery and how effective has it been for you? She was originally diagnosed with chondromalacia patellae and plica syndrome is not a well known diagnosis, as far as I can tell. She is 13 and was very active in sports until persistent knee pain prevented her from participating. We would really appreciate some feedback.

hi, i have had plica syndrome and a friend of mine also had it and had the surgury for it. it is very simple and and he was back running again after 6 weeks and was able to build up slowly from 6 mins initially. my symptoms were less dramatic and a some exercises were given to align the knee cap up again and after 4 weeks i was training again. it is hard to diagnose.
