Ankle problem for the last year

(3 discussions)

I had a small fracture in my right ankle(this happened July of last year).
They said nothing that physio couldn’t fix.
Went to Physio didn’t help.
I can’t afford to keep going to it, especially when I saw NO results from it(I went for a month and a half, 2 times/week).
I also have PF and have been wearing Birkenstok insoles for about 4 months now.
I still have pain in my ankle, directly below it, and to the right of it (right- while looking at it from the outer side).
They massaged it at physio, I was wondering how to do it again.
She told me if I do it wrong I could make it worse.
Any suggestions? I’m thinking of starting up my ankle exercises again.
I tried a few last night, but forgot to ice afterwards and there still is some pain today.
Any suggestions?
It would be great to get some help.
The medical system has failed me greatly here.
Should I get an MRI? Go to a Podiatrist?

If you were to present to my office with this complaint, I would recommend an MRI. From your description, it is possible you may have a tendon tear. An MRI would be the best way to visualize this, although it is not accurate 100% of the time.

So a tendon tear you say? I can’t believe that this is still a fracture. I will do some research on this and see. I’m going to request to have an MRI done.Is there anythin else you could possibly think of?THIS IS MUCHLY APPRECIATED.

I am 38 years old and just had surgery in May 2013. Prior to that I had no problems. However now that I am recovering I find that my ankles swell the more I am up and moving around. When I go to bed at night I put ice packs on them as they are painful and when I cover up I feel that the blanket is really pulling at my ankles and putting too much weight on them. I have been taking advil for the pain. I am moderatly over weight and have been trying to exercise to loose that weight in hopes that this would ease some of the strain that I feel I am having on my ankles and feet. What may be causing this problem? And should I be worried about arthritis or some other conditions? Please advise me on the next step I should take. Thanks Kris
