possible rib injury

Hello, I fell the other day somewhat on my left side but not directly on my left side. I have pain now that begins at the shoulder blade(more like a tingle/burn in the back) and comes along the outside of the left breast. I had been experienceing discomfot in the shoulder blade area and was planning to get an adjustment since I have had this symptom before and the area was in spasm (i do a lot of computer work and that happens when I have not stretched and excersised as much as I should). The paid does not radiate down the arm and I can lift the arm up over my head and out to the side and directly in front very little discomfor. It hurts when I sneeze, cough, lie down, rise up or try to move downward from the waist. There is no spinal injury, per my chiropractor. I do not want to go to the orthopedist if I do not have to since I don’t have the 25.00 to spare for co-pay. Do you think I need to be concerned? I am going back to the chiropractor for electric stim and heat.

low back pain with buttocks pain

It all started with pregnancy in 2010. My left lower SI Joint would hurt when I first got out of bed. Then after pregnancy I started my running again and had severe lower left side back pain, diagnosed as the SI Joint.
I let that heal for 1.5 mths with no running.
Then I ran about 3 times a week with controlled pain.
In December, I started to incorporate squats in my weight routine and then I started with hamstring tendonitis symptoms and have had them ever since. I’ve been doing physical therapy for 10 weeks with some improvement. I also saw a chiro for 5 visits with no improvement. An xray was ordered and I was found to have a tiny arthritic spur on on vertebrae and also a bone abnormality with the bottom vertebrae. The chiro’s diagnosis was that the bone abnormality is causing the left side to be weak and then he referred me to the sports rehad person who wanted to start me on physical therapy-which I was already still doing.
I’m a 36 year old very active woman.
The problem with the hamstring flares up with fast walking and running.
I think it’s SI joint dysfunction.
The chiro just cracked my back by pushing my shoulder back towards the table and my buttocks in towards the table.
Is there something else other than this for SI joint? Thank you for your time..

burser inflammation on outside of both legs

What treatment other than getting cortisone shot may I try to relieve this pain??
I cannot sleep on either side. Only on my back! Getting real tired of this pain. Going to Orth dr. today to get the shots.
I know that these shots only relieve the pain, short-term, and then they are not effective any longer.
I think. thanks for your response. Jan

Left leg and foot are numb – only 23 years old

(6 discussions)

Please help me. I’ve been having lower back pain for a month and a half now, and have been sitting in a recliner chair or lying down in bed quite often. The day before yesterday, I was on the toilet, trying to dry myself after going “pee”. I can’t really bend over that well, so I was doing this while trying to keep my back straight. All of the sudden I felt a really bad pain in the back of my left thigh, going down my leg and into my hip. I couldn’t walk well after that – I figured I’d just strained a thigh muscle. Well I kept putting ice under my thigh, or near my hip, and tried to stay off of it. But the spasms were really bad in my hip/thigh, and yesterday I had a series of spasms worse than ever while reclining in my chair, that lasted for about 5-10 minutes. When my muscles started to loosen a little, I realized that my left leg and foot were going numb – it feels like they’re “asleep”. I can feel it faintly in my left foot if I’m touched, and I can still feel “cold” if I walk barefoot on a cold floor, but the back of my left leg and my left foot are “asleep”. This is hard to deal with because I have a 2 year old son. I went to the ER, but the doctor didn’t know exactly what was wrong. He gave me painkillers and muscle relaxers, and told me I might have a pinched nerve, and that it would get better in time. But last night it actually got worse. When it first happened, I could still feel my toes. It was only the side of my foot and my heel that were numb. But now my whole foot is numb, as well as most of my calf and the back of my thigh. I’m really scared. My lower back (especially in the left rear hip area) is hurting a lot. And I’m having muscle spasms and “twitches” in my left thigh muscles and calf muscles. I can only walk with a walker, and even then I can’t make it very far. Please, if you know ANYTHING that might help…an exercise, a procedure…ANYTHING… Please let me know. I’m miserable and depressed, and even though it’s only been this way for a day now, it feels like an eternity already. Thank you…Brandy Hoover

HUMP

I AM A 26 YEAR OLD FEMALE 5FT. 4IN. 200LBS. I HAVE NOTICED SINCE I HAVE GOTTEN BIGGER OVER SEVERAL YEARS I HAVE DEVELOPED A SMALL HUMP ABOVE AND BETWEEN MY SHOULDER BLADES. WHEN I LEAN MY HEAD BACK, LIKE IN THE SHOWER, I CAN REACH BACK A FEEL IT AND IT FEELS LIKE A FATTY TISSUE. I READ SOMEWHERE ABOUT CUSHING SYNDROME. COULD THIS BE IT? I HAVE STRETCH MARKS ON MY ABDOMAIN, FROM BEING PREGNANT THOUGH. I HAVE OTHER STRETCH MARKS IN OTHER PLACES BUT THEY HAVE BEEN THERE FOR 10+ YEARS. DO THINK THIS IS JUST FROM BEING OBESE? WHERE EXACTLY IS THE HUMP THAT IS RELATED TO CUSHINGS LOCATED? WHAT CAUSES IT?

Intercostal pain after adjustment

Two days ago I went for my chiro adjustment (have been having lower back pain when sitting).
My regular chiro was not there so her associate did my adjustment.
I was on my side and he was doing something to my hips/sacrum.
I usually don’t feel anything, but this time I had a strange feeling shoot up into my right side and in my armpit/breast area.
It felt a little tight and when I said something he said “we got a really good stretch that time”.
I left and went home. After an hour I was in so much pain that I called and asked him if this was normal.
He said he knew right what it was… the intercostal area was moved… take ibuprofen, ice and heat and it should be better in a couple of days.Bottom line… is this normal? A chiropractic mistake or accident?
It’s not any better now… two days out.
I see my regular chiro on Tuesday… is there anything else they should be doing to alleviate this agony? Thanks so much!
