Ilitibial prob diagnosed, inner qauds weak, how long for full recovery??

Ive been recieving treatment at my local sports injury clinic (Dartford Kent) for the last month, where i was diagnosed to have tightness in both ilitibial bands.
I am a postman by profession, which as you all probably know involves alot of walking, cycling and carrying heavy bags on our backs which would put alot of strain upon the knees, especially in my case it has.
The treatment i have been recieving is sports massage to the ITB and outer qauds, as part of my rehabilitation ive also continued to go to the gym to strengthen the inner qaud muscles which he confirmed was weak compared to the rest of my legs.
My treatment started off as a weekly trip to the SIC and now has turned into once a month for check ups. I must admit that i am seeing small improvments from this treatmemnt but i still get tremendious discomfort when i where different types of trouser material ie; heavy jogging bottoms or jeans cause it to feel as though ive never even started treatment the pain and discomfort just comes straight back, im beginning to lose faith in the whole thing and feel as though ill never just be able to walk without the pain and dis ever again. Im only 23 and none of my other work mates have this problem.

Exercise ive been told to do down the gym are leg press which he has told me to lift as heavier weight as i can with both feet facing outwards to work the inner qaud and i think its called leg extensions, where you lif weights with both legs in front of you.

Any advice or reasurance would be grealy appretiative.
P.S ive been taking the glucosime sulphate suplement for the last few months.

Rob.
