Just wondering what position an athletic trainer has in a physical therapy clinic. Can they act as PT aides or PTAs?

Deep heel itch – nerve damage??

(66 discussions)

For at least 2 yrs. or more, I’ve had a deep itch in my left heel (above where I step).
It is driving me crazy!
I can’t scratch it or relieve it and I feel driven to dig into the itchy area and see if there is something in there.
I’m feeling desperate, though have not attempted to self-operate yet!.
I wake at night with this intense itch.
I have several herniated discs and have had a numb sensation in my lower left leg for 2 yrs. after a particularly bad episode of back pain which affected my left leg.
Can the two be connected somehow?
I’ve been rubbing on heel crack relief cream but it doesn’t do a thing really as the itch is seemingly so deep in the heel.
Could this be from my back problem?

Contractures of feet & arms at elbows

My mother is 88 years old Alzheimer/ persistent bladder infection woman, who is wheelchair bound with little activity.
Hospice workers have used massage and have provided 1 structured boot and cotton strap for her contracted feet. To be worn during the day only.
This has recently happened in past 3 weeks. They say no more PT will help. I think other forms of heat, near infrared and upper leg massage and more could be of help. I am interested in your comment.Thanking you in advance.Thoughtful Daughter

Acute Occipital Nueralgia

I have been having headaches for eight weeks.
I have good days, bad days, and really bad days. I am twenty years old and have never had headaches like this before.
My primary physician has sent me to have MRI’s and Bone scans run.
I have not got the results.
I just went to a party where there just happened to be four chiropractors.
My sister in law told one that I have had terrible headaches and he adjusted me.
I felt great for about two hours, and the headaches returned. About three days later I had a terrible attack.
I did not know what was going on.
I was at work and remeber lying in the floor, and my supervisor asking for my husband’s phone number.
I was shaking, hyperventalting, and had the worst headache ever.
I thought my head was exploding.
They rushed me to the emergency room where the doctor diagnosed me with Acute Occipital Nueralgia.
He said it could very well be the worst pain a human could experience.
He injected something in the back of my neck and head.
I was just wondering if seeing a chiropractor could make the nerve injury worse?

broken heel bone – recovery

I have a quiestion concerning recovery after broken heel bone. My friend had fell during work from 5 meter height, and has broken heel bone. the fracture needed surgery and the doctor has taken piece of bone from his pelvis and fixed it on the rest of the done with 4 screws. The screws were removed 2 weeks ago, and now he is on physical therapy. This morning he slipped and fell, so now he feels moderate pain in his heel and worries about the consequences? I’d like to know how long would it take for him to recover fully, and to walk normally again? thank you and sorry if my english is bad 🙂

Foot Pain Chronic

I injured my foot about 3 years ago. Ever since, it swells, the skin is discolored if I walk more than 5 minutes, and there is pain on the top and side of the foot. Podiatrists prescribed Celebrex which didn’t help. The MRI showed no abnormality. I did physical therapy which seemed to help a bit but not much. Does anyone have any thoughts on what this might be?

Foot pain upon standing

I am a 61 yr. male who is 5’11”, weigh approx. 210 Lbs. While off my feet I have no pain, but upon waking and standig beside the bed I nearly fall over from pain on the bottoms of both feet until I have walked (hobbled) for a while. After walking around some the pain subsides. Later in the day the pain recurs and is continuous until sitting or lying down. Upon standing again the pain again recurs. My feet are now taped by a podiatrist for 4 days. Upon removal and a week’s followup visit he wants to know my symptoms. He tells me to stay off my feet as much as possible, which I am attempting to do. The taping has help quite a bit, but I now have pain while my feet are elevated (with the taping on). What sounds to you to be the problem and therapy?
Thanks,Pascal Allison
