Knee pain for newbie

I’m a healthy 80kg male who just started up jogging recently. I have been doing 4 km’s a day for the last week with warm ups and downs at a moderate pace, focussing on keeping good form. I pushed it a little harder yesterday and now today I can walk fine but can’t run. The dull pain in both knees from the jolting motion is too much, especially when my foot lands.

For the first few days when I started out this pain felt like a bit of tense muscle that I could just ‘jog off’. I haven’t ever had any previous injuries to my legs. Is this common for beginners?…how do I prevent/cure this?
