Limbo competition injury on knee!
(4 discussions)
I HAD to do this limbo competition on a solid marble floor, so that when I collapsed on the lower levels, my inside knees took the impact. Although bruised and all muscles really sore for days, I managed to compete in a 3000m the next day, and do a 12 x400 track session 3 days later, and a couple of steady 10k’s. I saw my physio for a routine check on Friday, and he said it appeared the liagment was just bruised, but now it definitely hurts when I run (but doesn’t stop me), when my foot lands on the ground. Has this developed into something more serious? Should I revisit my physio or stop training? PLEASE HELP!

My physio told me that ligaments are attached to cartilage so you ignore a ligament injury at your peril.

Thanks Musledawg.
I have booked physio for tomorrow and am going to see my main guy next week. As for rest – ARE YOU MAD???? Of course, you’re right. I will try and refrain, but the physio I am seeing tomorrow said it will be interesting to see how it reacts after the 10k race I have tonight. I know I may seem stupid, but I will read the signs in the warm up. Thanks for your help.

Those compulsory Limbo Dances are really a bear aren’t they?
If the ligament is bruised you should lay off for a bit. If it hurts at rest dont even think of exercising it. Ice frequently to reduce pain and swelling and ease back into your training.
Give it a week of laying off to see if it gets better. If there’s no siginificant improvement in 2 or 3 days then get it checked out by a doc.
Hope that helps,
