Stress fracture?

(3 discussions)

i’ve had shin splints for about 10 months but i think i now have a stress fracture. a couple of days ago i noticed a bump on the inside of my left tibia. its bigger than a quarter about 4 inches above my ankle, but hurts more than i could ever imagine at night. i haven’t slept well for the past week, although the bump just showed up 3 days ago. i’m in pain whenever i walk, especially up or down hills. i’m going to try to get in to see a doc sometime soon but its hard being away from home. any advise would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Sorry about your news. I hope it isn’t too long before you are back exercising again without pain

i went to the doctor today and he took x-rays of my leg and there was a stress fracture that has begun the healing process. he also ordered an mri to see what else is going on in my legs. thanks for the advice and you were right on, it was a stress fracture.

I had a stress fracture in my foot a while ago and one of the signs is having pretty bad night pains, so it does sound like you may have one. Did the pain just seem to come, you didn’t fall over or anything? Because mine came gradually, towards the end of a running session and got a lot worse as I kept running on it. I could hardly walk afterwards either.
