Taping of knee?

(3 discussions)

I am searching the web for links that show good taping techniques of the knee. Hope someone here know of a site that show taping using images.

I had medial meniskectomi some 20 years ago and the new MR shows a very small meniscus and gives the diagnose severe medial arthrose. Also a ruptur of the lingament in front of the knee. There is always some pain – but no meds needed. I do have an appointment to see a fysiotherapist etc. I do triathlons and cycling.

My age.. I am more or less recommended exercise and strengthning.. and I assume some taping of the knee (my knee feels very “shaky” going downhill, uphill I need to find some type of angel to hold the knee in to get a smooth run). I especially need some taping to support the missing lingament…
Thank you greatly!

Yes… that was also what the fysio said.. I have been there now.
He showed me on a model of what was missing and ofcourse I now understand what is going on better. He gave me some strengthening exercises. They are very basic – more to train the balance first. Its amazing what a difference it is on those to legs when it comes to balance…. One of them – I stand on one foot and bend the knee. If I go too deep the knee doesnt hold me up eighter..

IMHO, tape the knee is worthless. The knee is far to complex to be restrained properly by tape. I would highly suggest investing in a good knee brace.
